The Beginning Of The Man With A License To Kill
May 8, 1965 - The first James Bond movie, Dr. No is released in America staring Sean Connery as James Bond. The Bond series written by Ian Fleming as a book became on of the highest grossing movie franchises of all time.
Highest Grossing Movie Franchises:
1. Marvel Universe - 22.5 billion
2. Star Wars - 10 billion
3. Wizarding World - 9.1 billion
4. James Bond - 7 billion
5. Spiderman 6.3 billion
I can't say anything bad about the Bond franchise. A lot of my childhood stems from it. I would watch Bond movies with my dad on Spike TV (man shit.) Not to sound like a film snob, but I've never found myself seeking a Bond movie to watch. BUT, If I had to only watch one Bond movie? Give me Casino Royale. It's like the Batman series. There were a lot that came before, but this 1st installment of the Daniel Craig as Bond is incredible.
Unfortunately, Quantum of Solace wasn't exactly The Dark Knight.
GoldenEye 007 for N64:
For me, this was the first game everyone in the room could play, and as long as no one was Odd Job, the game was fucking sweet. The silenced PP7 shooting is like Nintendo 64 ASMR. I might fall asleep to the sounds of James Bond panting when shot and karate chopping people's throat boxes.
Austin Powers:
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery was a smashing success of a parody on the Bond series. The first two movies in the Austin Power series are great and the third is .. meh. Rewatching the clips I always forget Will Farrell was Dr. Evil's hit man, Mustafa.
